Ernest Withers: Double Exposure
Currently in production. Photographer Ernest Withers chronicled some of the most significant eras in 20th Century American history: Negro League Baseball in the South; the Beale Street music scene in Memphis, birthplace of the blues; and most notably, the Civil Rights Movement. Double Exposure is a feature length documentary that will fully chronicle Ernest Withers’ life as a photographer, and get behind the controversial headlines to uncover the complexity and truth of recent allegations that he was an FBI informant. In addition to taking proper account of Withers’ significant photographic archive, this film will explore whether this evidence is a true or false indictment against him.
